The scheme consists of a mixture of single storey 2/3 bedroom cottages and two-storey 4/5 bedroom houses, all built using the insulated concrete formwork (ICF) method of construction.
This system is particularly suited to Orkney as it overcomes the need to import blockwork into the island. The highly insulated system also assists in meeting carbon reduction targets in a location where gas heating is not an option.
The design of the houses was deliberately kept clean and simple to reflect the local vernacular, and the site layout was designed to maximise the spectacular views out to the sea.

They are highly experienced in handling planning applications and securing building warrants. Their architectural skills can produce elegant solutions to challenging problems, and they've produced some excellent work with plot layouts and designs. They can liaise with all the professional disciplines such as engineers, inspectors and surveyors and area dept at listening to clients requirements and wherever possible accommodating these requests.
